 Sponge-fishing Museum
People of Koutali were famous dealers, capable fishermen and sponge-fishers, and that’s why for many years their area constituted one of the most important sponge-fishing Aegean centers. The exports of their sponges reached USA and Japan. Today, a Sponge-fishing Museum functions at the village, with much important information about this great art, which unfortunately, is gone in the 70’s. |

The findings, preserved in this museum, are exceptional and remarkable, all from the excavations that took place in Poliochni, Hephaestia, Imvros and Cabeiro. The copy of the Stele of Kaminia is eminent and bears a representation of a warrior and Tyrrhenian inscription. |
